About the Hospital

Our Founder Chancellor DR. A. shanmugasundaram found thirumuruga Kirupananada Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal Medical Educational and Charitable Trust during the year 1981 to serve the needy.  This trust established its first medical college during the year 2000 located in NH Pondicherry Cuddalore Road, over 44 acres of lush green lands.  At the initial stage the institution was affiliated to Pondicherry University and later it came under the dominion of Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation Deemed to be University in the year 2004.

Aarupadai Veedu Medical College and Hospital offers Patient care, Diagnostic, Rehabilitative, Preventive, pharmacy services and so on.  The hospital is well equipped with ICCU, ICU, PICU, NICU, and high dependency areas, modular operation theatres equipped with contemporary anaesthesia equipment with the board and super speciality departments of Cardiology, Urology, Medical Gastroenterology, Plastic surgery, Paediatric Surgery, and Nephrology. The Hospital renders its service in and around Puducherry and nearby districts from Tamilnadu.  We ensure third party insurance schemes and Government schemes. 

The hospital is well designed with efficient Dialysis Unit.  It has also equipped with updated Laparoscopy for general and gynaecological surgery, ESWL, Lithotripsy, PUVA chamber and laser instruments for cosmetic surgery.  The hospital has BARC approved Cath Lab, 1.5 Tesla MRI, 124 slices CT scan, USGs, automated central laboratory services and state of art virology lap and render its service round the clock of the week.  The hospital extends its service in Operational Pharmacy, Audiology and Speech Therapy Unit, Physiotherapy / Rehabilitative Care and blood bank provide necessary support to the patient. Being the part This hospital regime with 3 Urban, 5 Rural and 6 Satellite Centres located in surrounding villages as Outreach and Extension activities with the provision of free services and provide free food to all inpatients.  

As the efforts on quality, The Aarupadai Veedu Medical college and hospital is recognised by NABH entry level and the virology lab by NABL Accreditation.  The University has been consistency featuring in the NIRF ranking.

The environment of the hospital over 33 % is covered with lush of greenery.  It initiates as plastic free campus, shaded walkpaths, vehicle free zone, e-cycles and Buggies for transporting inside the campus, rainwater harvesting, recycling of waste waster and biodegradable waste, solar power etc. The hospital has serviceable super market, ATM, Cafeteria and food court as the part of facilities. In the hospital there are 26 departments including Accident & Emergency.  The bed strength is 540.  Patients from Pondicherry as well as from surroundings villages attend the hospital.  The hospital area is 2,20,000 sq. ft.

• The hospital has latest equipments such as MRI, CT Scan, dialyser etc..
• The MRI is open type and is 0.3 tesla capacity.
