On September 29th, 2023, a workshop titled “Basics to Advanced Airway Management” was held at AVMC as part of the ISACON PUDUCHERRY-2023 state conference. The Department of Anaesthesiology at AVMC organized the workshop in collaboration with the ISA State chapter. The workshop aimed to provide hands-on training on various techniques and devices used to manage difficult airways.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. V. Ezhilrajan, Professor, and HOD of Anaesthesiology at AVMC, along with Dr. P. F. Kotur, Provost at AVMC. Dr. R. V. Ranjan, Professor in the Department of Anaesthesiology at SMVMCH, was the chief guest and delivered a guest lecture on Difficult Airway Assessment.
The workshop included six stations where participants could practice using supraglottic airway devices, video laryngoscopes, double-lumen tubes/bronchial blockers, fibreoptic bronchoscopes, cricothyrotomy, PDT, and USG-guided airway assessment. Additionally, the workshop featured a case-based demonstration on airway management using a Hi-fidelity simulation mannequin. Participants actively engaged in the simulation and received feedback to enhance their learning.
