iCON 2022 – the Second International Conference on “Innovations in Health Professions Education” has been organised by the Medical Education Unit, AVMC Puducherry, a constituent college of VMRF, deemed to be a University. In its second edition, this conference aims to explore the transformation of Health Professions educators towards the demands of 21st-century learning through a super killing framework as amply exemplified by the theme ‘Transforming health professions’ educators for 21st-century learning’.
The event, held at Hotel Accord, Puducherry, from Dec 5-7, 2022, features over 20 eminent speakers and educators across the country and abroad. Dr. Avinash Supe, Ex-Director (ME & MH) and Dean KEM and Sion Hospital and Emeritus Professor, G I Surgery and Medical Education , Seth GS Medical College KEM Hospital, a Dr. B C Roy National Awardee (Eminent Medical Teacher) were the chief guest for the program and delivered a keynote address on ‘Fostering creativity and critical thinking skills among medical students’. Dr. A.S. Ganesan, Chancellor, VMRF presides over the inaugural program. Dr.Sudhir, Vice-chancellor and Mr. Suresh Samuel, Member of the board of management, graced the occasion.
The Conference featured six Hands–on workshops, keynote addresses, plenary sessions, panel discussions and presentations on innovations in Teaching/learning/assessment in ‘Health professions education.
The event was attended by over 200 delegates from across the country and is being transmitted live for the international audience. Under the able guidance of Dr. P.F. Kotur, Dean, AVMC and Dr. B. Vishnu Bhat, Director, Medical Research, AVMC, the members of the Medical education Unit of AVMC, led by Dr. V.N. Mahalakshmi, Dean Health Professions’ Education have put together this notable event.
