Department

Precision diagnostics meets foundational science.

We integrate molecular biology, metabolism, and genetics to provide a comprehensive scientific foundation for rational medical practice and patient-centric care.

The Department of Biochemistry is established to prepare competent medical and allied health professionals through the application of molecular knowledge and critical thinking. We play a foundational role in medical education by helping students understand the molecular basis of health and disease—metabolism, enzymes, and genetics. Our team provides laboratory expertise to all clinical departments, building a strong scientific foundation for competent medical practice.

We offer a wide range of courses including MBBS, MD Biochemistry, PhD, and various Allied Health Science programs. A unique feature is our value-added course on 'Quality Assurance in Laboratory (Pre & Post-Analytical)', which has already certified multiple batches of students. Our faculty are trained in ACME and FAIMER, ensuring a smooth and innovative delivery of the CBME curriculum.

Our central diagnostic laboratory is a state-of-the-art facility providing error-free, timely reports with external quality control from CMC Vellore.

The department is a leader in institutional medical education, with HOD Dr. Manju M serving as the MEU Coordinator, integrating pedagogical innovation with clinical science.
