Program Overview
The MBBS program at Aarupadai Veedu Medical College & Hospital (AVMCH) is a comprehensive undergraduate medical education spanning 4.5 Years of academic training followed by a 1-year Compulsory Rotating Internship. Established in 2000 under Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (Deemed to be University), AVMCH is approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and accredited by NAAC.
The curriculum follows the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) framework introduced by NMC, integrating early clinical exposure, longitudinal programs like AETCOM (Attitude, Ethics, and Communication), and a Foundation Course to orient students to the medical profession from Day 1.
Students train at the attached 1075+ bed multi-speciality teaching hospital located on the Puducherry–Cuddalore Main Road, gaining clinical exposure across 20+ departments with round-the-clock emergency, trauma care, diagnostic, and therapeutic services.

Course Curriculum
The MBBS curriculum at AVMCH follows the NMC’s Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) guidelines with integrated teaching, early clinical exposure, and skill-based assessments across five progressive phases.
Phase I
Foundation in human body structure, function, and biochemical processes. Early community exposure and clinical posting begins.
Phase II
Understanding disease mechanisms, drug actions, and medico-legal principles. Clinical postings begin alongside theory.
Phase III (Part 1)
Core clinical rotations in the 1075+ bed teaching hospital. Hands-on patient care under senior faculty supervision.
Phase III (Part 2)
Exposure to speciality and super-speciality disciplines with clinical case discussions and skill assessments.
Compulsory Rotating Medical Internship (CRMI)
12-month hands-on training across all departments including mandatory rural posting for community health experience.
