Respiratory Medicine at AVMCH focuses on comprehensive lung health care through early diagnosis, evidence-based treatment, pulmonary function assessment, and long-term follow-up for acute and chronic airway diseases.

As published on AVMCH’s Pulmonary Medicine page, the department provides affordable respiratory diagnosis and treatment for patients in and around Puducherry, with services spanning OPD, inpatient, and critical care pathways.

The department has trained MBBS students for years and is now upgraded with postgraduate training, including 2 PG seats from the academic year 2021-22, along with research guidance.

Clinical services include care for TB, COVID, asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis, interstitial and occupational lung diseases, with special features including bronchoscopy, day-care procedures, and implementation of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme.
