Department

A clinical home from warmer to graduation.

Established 1999. Comprehensive paediatric care across newborns, infants, children and adolescents — supported by modern intensive-care facilities, structured teaching, and active research.

The Department of Paediatrics delivers ethical, compassionate, evidence-based care while nurturing future paediatricians through competency-based undergraduate and postgraduate education. The unit functions with centralized oxygen supply, nebulization facilities, bedside radiology and trained medical and nursing personnel dedicated exclusively to children 0-14 years.

The NICU offers radiant warmer care, CPAP and conventional ventilation, management of respiratory disorders, seizures and neonatal jaundice, and care of low birth weight and sick newborns. The PICU manages critically ill children with mechanical ventilation, continuous multiparameter monitoring and emergency paediatric and trauma care — available round the clock.

First private medical college in Puducherry to initiate free Rotavirus vaccination — and home to the Annai Annapoorani Benefit Scheme supporting mothers who deliver at AVMCH.

Specialty clinics run through the week — paediatric haematology and cardiology on Mondays, nephrology and nutrition on Tuesdays, well-baby and immunization on Wednesdays, child guidance on Thursdays, paediatric neurology on Fridays, and endocrine and asthma clinics on Saturdays.
