General Medicine at AVMCH provides a wide array of curative services supported by modern diagnostics, super-specialty collaborations, and a 24/7 emergency response system.
The department provides curative services to patients with a wide spectrum of diseases from all over Puducherry and Tamil Nadu. We conduct health camps regularly to serve the community. Special clinics operate daily for Headache, Hypertension, Neurology, Rheumatology, and Diabetes Mellitus, offering medications free of cost to attendees.
The PG curriculum features a student-friendly atmosphere involving didactic lectures, seminars, journal clubs, workshops, mortality audits, and inter-departmental society meetings. We encourage research among UGs and PGs, actively participating in ICMR challenges. The department also facilitates Allied Health Science courses like Physician Assistant, Perfusion Tech, and Dialysis Tech.
We support a variety of super specialty departments such as Nephrology, Neurology, Cardiology, Rheumatology, and Medical Gastroenterology. We also run a comprehensive Master Health check-up for patients and collaborative screening programs for industrial workers.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, a dedicated 'Fever Clinic' was set up for daily evaluation, demonstrating our dynamic response to public health challenges.
