Program Overview
The Basic Course in Medical Education (BCME) is a mandatory National Medical Commission training program for medical teaching faculty. It strengthens teaching quality, supports CBME implementation, and promotes use of modern educational technologies for better learner outcomes and faculty progression.

Foundations of Teaching & Assessment
Group dynamics, learning principles, CBME, TLM and feedback
- Introduction and ice-breaking session
- Group dynamics (Tuckman Model)
- Adult learning principles and learning spiral
- CBME concepts and ABCD learning objectives
- Teaching-learning methods (LGT and SGT)
- Assessment basics: formative, summative and internal assessment
- Feedback techniques including Sandwich Model
DAY 2
AETCOM, SDL and Question Design
Ethics, SDL models, skill-teaching, blueprinting and quality questions
- AETCOM: ethics, communication and professionalism
- SDL models: Knowles, Kolb and Grow
- Clinical skill teaching: SNAPPS, one-minute preceptor and Peyton’s approach
- Aligning teaching methods with competencies

NMC Accreditation & Mandate
The Basic Course in Medical Education (BCME) is mandated by the National Medical Commission (NMC) for all medical faculty.
