On August 30, 2024, the Department of General Surgery, in collaboration with OREOL Academy, successfully hosted a comprehensive workshop on Endovenous Laser Ablation (CELA) and Laser Proctology at the Smt. Annapoorani Shanmugasundaram Mini Auditorium, AVMC&H. The event was led by distinguished experts Dr. Neeraj Goyal and Dr. Maunil Ajay Bhuta, who offered valuable insights into advanced laser techniques for treating varicose veins and proctological conditions.
The workshop featured detailed sessions on laser technology basics, safety protocols, and procedural techniques. Participants gained hands-on experience with endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) for varicose veins, including practical training on the necessary equipment and accessories. The second part of the workshop focused on laser proctology, covering treatments for hemorrhoids, anal fissures, anal fistulas, and pilonidal sinus through live demonstrations and interactive practice sessions.
The event concluded with a discussion on post-procedure care and complications, followed by a written exam to assess participants’ understanding. Certificates of participation were awarded to all attendees, acknowledging their successful completion of the training. The workshop was praised for its thorough content and practical approach, enhancing attendees’ skills and confidence in applying laser techniques in their clinical practice.
