Director Research - Aarupadai Veedu Medical College and Hospital
Research should be an integral part of any academic institution. It not only helps us in projecting ourselves to the outside world but also improves the quality of care and student training.
Aarupadai Veedu Medical College and Hospital is situated in a rural area of Puducherry. It provides education in medical, nursing and allied health sciences on campus. The management of the institution has provided facilities required for basic and advanced research. The research division is taking care of the scientific and regulatory requirements required for research with various committees like the institute review committee, ethics committees for human and animal research, bio-safety committee etc. We have also set up a clinical trial unit and a committee to monitor adverse drug events.
In order to nurture innovative ideas, an institutional innovation council has been created. We conduct regular meetings and training programmes for faculty and students. Plagiarism checking and monitoring of publications are some of the other activities undertaken by the research division.
The central research laboratory is well equipped with modern diagnostic techniques to enhance the research output. Well trained scientific officers and research associates manage the laboratory so that advanced research projects can be executed. There are several ongoing research projects funded by the institute and external funding agencies like DBT, DST and ICMR.
We have also established an animal house in order to carry out animal research. A cell culture laboratory has been added to meet the growing demands of researchers.
