PG Activities

Postgraduate courses were started at AVMC in the year 2007. Since then, there has been a steady increase in the intake, and currently, we have 75 postgraduate seats. On admission, an orientation program is conducted for the postgraduates, followed by a research methodology workshop, to sensitise and encourage them in carrying out quality research in their field. They also participate in a workshop on manuscript writing.

Postgraduates are involved in academic activities like seminars, journal clubs, case presentations, dissertation review meetings, clinicopathological case studies and maintaining their logbooks. Each academic activity is evaluated by the department faculty. They are also encouraged to attend in-house multidisciplinary postgraduate symposia and meetings of the Scientifique Society of AVMC that are conducted every month. Theory and clinical exams are conducted quarterly and there is a 360-degree evaluation of postgraduate academic activities at AVMC with a 6 monthly progress report.

Research Day is conducted every year where all final year postgraduates present their papers and posters for which they are awarded prizes and certificates. They are encouraged to present posters and papers at various state / national/international conferences and also publish their research work in reputed national/international journals. We ensure mandatory participation of postgraduates in the monthly mortality meeting and also make it compulsory for them to complete the NPTEL course – a basic course in research methodology. The contribution of postgraduates during the COVID pandemic has gained appreciation from all sectors, testimony to a fearless attitude and responsibility towards restoring health. At present, we are in the process of e-portfolio implementation for our postgraduates, which will be mentored by the faculties of their department.

Postgraduates actively participate in outreach activities such as health camps, awareness programmes and delivering health talks to the villagers.
