The Centre has a successful track record and extensive experience in conducting research related to Medical Diagnostics, as evidenced by its collaborations, partnerships, and existing research projects in this field.
Some of the notable research projects undertaken by the Centre include:
- Proteomic identification of urinary biomarkers for chronic kidney disease: This project focused on identifying urinary biomarkers for chronic kidney disease using proteomic techniques. The Centre successfully utilized advanced proteomics methods to identify potential biomarkers, which could potentially aid in the early diagnosis and management of chronic kidney disease.
- Non-invasive Biomarkers for Alcohol-Related Liver Disease—A Proteomic-Related Preliminary Report: This project aimed to identify non-invasive biomarkers for alcohol-related liver disease using proteomic approaches. The Centre conducted extensive proteomic analysis and identified potential biomarkers that could be used for early diagnosis and monitoring of alcohol-related liver disease.
- Molecular mechanics and quantum chemical calculations unveil the combating effect of baicalein on human islet amyloid polypeptide aggregates: This project utilized computational methods to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying the effect of baicalein on human islet amyloid polypeptide aggregates. The Centre employed molecular mechanics and quantum chemical calculations to uncover the potential therapeutic effect of baicalein, which could have implications for the treatment of amyloid-related diseases.
- Noncoding RNAs associated with IgA nephropathy: This project focused on the role of noncoding RNAs in IgA nephropathy, a common form of kidney disease. The Centre conducted comprehensive analyses of noncoding RNAs using advanced genomic techniques and identified potential noncoding RNA biomarkers associated with IgA nephropathy, shedding light on the underlying molecular mechanisms of the disease.
- Identification of Atrial Fibrillation Risk Variant RS2200733 In Indian Young Adult Population: This project aimed to identify genetic risk variants associated with atrial fibrillation in the Indian young adult population. The Centre conducted whole-genome sequencing and genetic association analyses, and successfully identified a novel risk variant, RS2200733, which could have implications for the prediction and prevention of atrial fibrillation in this population.
- Whole exome sequencing identifies novel variants in CDH23 and WFS1 genes associated with sensorineural hearing loss in a consanguineous family: This project utilized whole-exome sequencing to identify novel genetic variants associated with sensorineural hearing loss in a consanguineous family. The Centre successfully identified novel variants in CDH23 and WFS1 genes, which could provide insights into the genetic basis of sensorineural hearing loss and contribute to the development of genetic screening and management strategies for this condition.
- In silico analysis and Identification unravel the structural consequences of missense mutations in the homeodomain of PITX2 gene: This project employed computational methods to investigate the structural consequences of missense mutations in the homeodomain of the PITX2 gene, which is associated with ocular and craniofacial development. The Centre conducted in silico analyses and successfully identified potential structural changes caused by the mutations, which could help elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying the associated developmental disorders.
- Identification of Glutathione S Transferase T1 (GSTT1) and M1(GSTM1) in association with preeclampsia: The study has identified GSTT1, GSTM1 gene deletions in patients diagnosed with preeclampsia and compared with normotensive controls. The genes have antioxidant role in preventing oxidative stress in placenta. The study will further correlate null genotypes with maternal antecedent characteristics and perinatal pregnancy outcomes. The findings of the study will enable identification of pregnant women at the risk of preeclampsia and start them on prophylactic therapy.
- Determination of ZNF469 p. Trp2587Ter – A truncating mutation for the diagnosis of Brittle Cornea Syndrome: This project focused on the identification of genetic mutations associated with Brittle Cornea Syndrome, a rare connective tissue disorder. The Centre conducted genetic sequencing and successfully determined a truncating mutation, ZNF469 p. Trp2587Ter, which could serve as a diagnostic marker for Brittle Cornea Syndrome, contributing to the understanding and diagnosis of this rare condition.
These collaborations, partnerships, and research projects highlight the Centre’s expertise and experience in conducting research related to Medical Diagnostics, utilizing advanced technologies and techniques to uncover novel insights and potential applications. The Centre’s successful collaborations, partnerships, and research projects demonstrate its commitment to advancing knowledge and making meaningful contributions to the field of Medical Diagnostics research.
