Please provide a brief write up about your organisation including  details of infrastructural facilities available to carry out r-DNA activities in not more than 500 words:

The Aarupadai Veedu Medical College and Hospital was established at Pondicherry in the year 1999, with due approval from the Government of India and Medical Council of India. The Institution offers MCI recognized MD/MS programs in several disciplines in addition to MBBS program. AVMC campus is located in sprawling 100 acres and is home for a variety of flora and fauna. The eco-friendly, plastic and tobacco free campus is Wi- Fi enabled and houses Nursing, Physiotherapy and Allied Health Science colleges. Unique and distinguished program is also offered by BASLP. Presently 800 students are studying in the College. From 2021, 150 students will be admitted in the MBBS program. Major activities of the departments are teaching and research. Department of Anatomy has established a Plastination lab and organized several hands on workshops in Plastination techniques. Department of Biochemistry is known for adopting newer T-L methods. Department of Physiology has a Centre of excellence in Clinical Physiology and offers value added courses in nerve conduction, ECG and Pulmonary function testing.

The “Cell and Tissue Culture” Laboratory of CBR, located within the academically-enriched campus of the Aarupadai Veedu Medical College and Hospital. Since its inception, CBR has been performing cutting-edge research in cell biology, providing valuable services as a national animal house, and supporting human resource development through various teaching and training programmes. CBR has been at the forefront of basic research in diverse fields of cell biology, especially those addressing important human health issues such as cancer, metabolic disorders, infectious diseases, and regenerative medicine. The research at CBR is focused on answering these challenging health issues through approaches that integrate modern and conventional disciplines including cell biology, cellular signalling, stem cell biology, immunology, genomics, proteomics, systems biology, structural biology and Marine natural therapeutics. The facility is well equipped with CO2 incubators, inverted phase contrast microscopes, laminar flow hoods, water bath, programmable freezers, liquid nitrogen storage facility, basic cell counter and autoclave. It also supports research activity in all departments and is responsible for initiating several internal and external research grants.

The primary aim of this laboratory is to work in the area of Molecular biology aspects. Users can work with primary cultures and cell lines from humans, experimental animals and from different species of cell organisms. At present, mainly research associated to   tissue generation ,  macromolecules  structure and cell  function,  pathogenesis  and cell response ,biology of cancer & chronic diseases,  cellular organization and function genetic  and  Regulatory RNA & Gene expression will be carried out  in this tissue culture facility of the institute. Particularly we are working with the   stem cells regeneration, Bio scaffold characterization to understand the molecular mechanisms of biomaterials of natural compounds

The cell culture facility provides a centralized facility for growth of animal cells in culture to meet the requirements of the research staff in the AVMC. The facility also provides cell lines to other scientific organizations in the nearby research institutions and provides training to the AVMC staff and researchers from other organizations in cell culture techniques.
