Graduation Day is a significant milestone in a student’s life, representing the end of their educational journey and the start of new opportunities. On September 9, 2024, Aarupadai Veedu Medical College and Hospital celebrated its Graduation Day ceremony at the Dr Ganesan Learning Centre in Puducherry, honouring the graduates of the 2023-24 academic year. The event featured esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. Vikas Bhatia, CEO of AIIMS Bibinagar, and Dr. A.S. Ganesan, Chancellor of VMRF, who presided over the occasion.
The ceremony began with a traditional academic parade led by the Indian Reserve Battalion Band, followed by an invocation song and a graceful dance performance. Dr. Rakesh Sehgal, Dean of AVMC, presented an academic report highlighting the institution’s advancements in education, research, and community outreach. He emphasized the importance of accreditation, new academic programs, and the contributions of faculty and students in various fields.
In his presidential address, Dr. Ganesan congratulated the graduates and underscored the value of education and giving back to society. The Chief Guest, Dr. Bhatia, discussed the pivotal role of teachers and the importance of professionalism in medicine. Academic achievers were recognized, with medals awarded to 32 students, including Miss J. Parvathy as the best outgoing student. The ceremony concluded with the administration of the modified Hippocratic Oath and the celebratory tossing of graduation caps, marking a proud moment for the graduates, their families, and the AVMC community.
