EXTENSION ACTIVITIES:

National Tuberculosis Elimination programme (NTEP) (previously RNTCP) has been implemented in our college for the last 10 years. In accordance with that, patients who are diagnosed with tuberculosis are registered in NIKSHAY online governmental portal and then  given a referral form for initiating and continuing tuberculosis treatment in their nearest Primary Health Center.

The samples of patients who are suspected of drug-resistant tuberculosis are sent to the government chest hospital for primary and secondary drug sensitivity tests and treatment of drug-resistant tuberculosis.

Our hospital also serves as a designated microscopy centre and DOTS centre for NTEP. As a DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment – Supervised) centre, the diagnosed tuberculosis patient can get the anti-tuberculous drugs free of cost from the respiratory medicine department for the total duration of treatment.
