Dr.M.Meganathan

Professor & HoD
Dr M. Meganathan is a faculty of Aarupadai Veedu Medical College & Hospital, Puducherry since 2009 and is currently holding the post of Professor & HoD in the Department of Pharmacology. He had graduated in MBBS from Al Ameen Medical College, Bijapur under Karnatak University, Dharwad and completed the Master degree in Pharmacology from Rajah Muthiah Medical College & Hospital, Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu. He has clinical experience of treating diversified patients both urban and rural, for more than 25 years. He also has vast teaching experience of more than 17 years in UG& PG courses in Medicine, Nursing and other Allied Health Science subjects. He is involved in few clinical trials in association with the pharma companies. He has 19 research papers to his credit, published in various international journals. He has successfully completed Courses on Clinical Trials – Aesculape, Singapore, Diabetology – Annamalai University, Practical Cardiology – IMA, Tamil Nadu, RBCW, CISP and BCBR. PROFESSOR
Dr. R. Sivaraj, graduated both MBBS & Masters’ Degree in Pharmacology from Rajah Muthiah Medical college & Hospital, Annamalai University, Annamalai Nagar, Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu. At present, he is working as Professor of Pharmacology and published 24 full paper publications in National and International Journals. He had written & published Pharmacology Books for MBBS, BDS, Nursing and Allied Health Science Students. He is an editorial member in Glacier’s journal of scientific research. He had attended and presented papers at the National and International level conferences and also got awarded for the best Research Papers at the National and International Level. He was an observer for National Eligibility cum entrance test (NEET) for MBBS & observer for the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Ph.D guide for PG, UG, M.Sc., Students, Ph.D., Research Supervisor and Convener for VMRF University. DR.B.R.ASOKAN

PROFESSOR
Dr. B.R. Asokan is a distinguished academic and medical professional with an extensive career in Pharmacology and Medical education. Hailing from Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, he graduated from Thanjavur Medical College & Hospital, affiliated with Madras University. He earned his Master’s degree in Pharmacology from RMMC&H, Annamalai University. He served as a Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacology from 2019 to 2023. He was also the Coordinator of the Medical Education Unit (MEU) at Aarupadai Veedu Medical College&Hospital,VMRF, Puducherry Campus from 2016 to June 2023. His academic and administrative roles include serving as the Chairperson of the Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC) and a member of various other committees at VMCON and AVMC&H. His leadership extended to the Clinical Trial Unit at AVMC&H, where he held the position of Chief from 2019 to 2023. Throughout his career, he has been deeply involved in research, with 27 full paper publications in international journals ,1 Book publication and 4 approved patent rights. He has presented his work at Numerous national and state conferences, receiving multiple awards for his research and extension activities. Notably, he has guided both undergraduate and postgraduate students in ICMR projects and has organized many CME workshops. His professional qualifications are extensive. He holds several diplomas and degrees in diverse fields, including Industrial Hygiene, Population & Health Management, Pollution Control, Maternal and Child Health, Sociology, Population Studies, Information Technology, Human Resource Management, Varma logy & Thokkanam Science, and more. He has completed advanced courses in Medical Education, Computer Applications, Hospital Management, Palliative Medicine, Biomedical Research, Drug Delivery, and Clinical Trials, among others. His academic appointments include recognition as Chief Superintendent and Assistant Chief Superintendent for University Examinations conducted at AVMC&H. He has also been a BOS member for AHS and UG Medical at VMRF. His committee memberships are numerous, including roles in the Pharmacovigilance committee, Pharmacotherapeutic committee, Institutional Curriculum committee, and various other institutional and academic committees. His contributions to the field have been recognized with numerous honors and awards. He received special recognition from NIPMED and SWASTIK Trust, the AVMC & H Dean for his role in the Medical Education Unit, and multiple best paper awards for his research. He was honored with the Exemplary Services Award by the Honourable Chancellor Dr. A.S. Ganesan, the Achievers Award from Assist World Records Research Foundation, and the National Builder Award from Rotary District-2981. His accolades also include the Best Doctor Award from PARA Awards, an appreciation award from PWC for COVID service, and numerous other prestigious awards from national and international organizations. His research interests focus on herbal research and experimental Pharmacology. His commitment to clinical trials was evident in his leadership of the Clinical Trial Unit at AVMC&H from 2019 to 2023. Dr. K. Madhanagopal

Professor
Dr. K. Madhana Gopal, joined this esteemed institution as first medical officer, in the year 2000 and worked up to 2006. After completing Master’s degree in Pharmacology with Gold medal, he joined as Assistant professor in the department of pharmacology in 2009 and currently designated as Professor, with the teaching experience of more than 15 years. He is teaching the courses such as MBBS, MD, BSc-Nursing, BPT & various Allied courses. He has 19 publications in various international journals. Dr.P.DeepaKameswari

Associate professor
Dr Deepa Kameswari is a faculty of Aarupadai veedu medical college who graduated from Govt Thoothukudi medical college and has been awarded Gold medal in MD by Pondicherry university. She has 10 years of academic experience in teaching and research. She is the department coordinator of UG academics, NAAC, research and holds responsibilities as Co-coordinator in MEU & LMS, Co-editor of AVMC Newsletter, scientist in charge of IAEC, member of pharmacovigilance/ therapeutic committees in the institution.She has published 15 papers in indexed, peer reviewed national & international journals and delivering lectures regularly in various FDPs in medical education. Dr. Narayanasamy S, Associate Professor is an alumnus of AVMC, VMRF. He has graduated from Aarupadai veedu Medical College, Pondicherry University and done Post-graduation in Pharmacology at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute (MGMCRI),Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University, Pondicherry. He joined this institution in the year 2014, as a tutor and promoted as Assistant Professor in April 2015 and Associate professor in January 2022. He had accumulated 12 years of teaching experience till date. He has experience of guiding many under graduates for various research projects.He has published his completed research works in reputed and indexed national & international medical journals. He has attended and presented papers at the National and state level conferences. Dr.Franc Deepika Venugopan has joined as a Senior Resident in the department on Feb 2023. She has 4 years of Academic experience in teaching MBBS, AHS, and Nursing Students. She has attended national and international level pharmacology conferences and attended workshops on Clinical Trial and drug development, GCP, Zebra Fish in biomedical Research, Pharmacovigilance and research methodology. She has won third prize in oral presentation in a National Conference. She also has completed Industrial training programme in BA/BE Studies.

DR. LEENA RAJATHY PLR

Animal Welfare Officer
Dr. Leena Rajathy is working as Animal Welfare Officer at the Central Animal House attached to the Department of Pharmacology, Aarupadai Veedu Medical College and Hospital, Vinayaka Missions Research Foundation, since 2021. She holds Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry and Master of Veterinary Science in Pathology from RIVER, Pondicherry University.She is the veterinarian cum member secretary of the IAEC of AVMC. She has attended several laboratory animal workshops, conferences, training courses and webinars. She has collaborated actively with researchers from several other disciplines of biomedicine, including drug testing and wound healing studies and has published 12 articles in various reputed national and international journals along with 2 books with Sara Publications. She has cleared ASRB-NET exam in 2009. She is member of various professional bodies and state veterinary council. Her interests are in the field of drug testing, toxicology and cancer research.
