On 28th September 2024, Aarupadai Veedu Medical College and Hospital (AVMCH) organized a Cancer Awareness Program and Screening Camp at Satya Special School, Karuvadikuppam, Puducherry. The event featured Dr. M. Thirumal, an Oral Pathologist, Oral Microbiologist, and Forensic Odontologist from AVMCH’s Department of Dentistry, who delivered an insightful speech on the Importance of Oral Hygiene Maintenance and Oral Cancer Awareness. Dr. Thirumal emphasized the role of good oral hygiene in preventing dental issues and raised awareness about the symptoms, risk factors, and importance of early detection of oral cancer.
Following his talk, Dr. Thirumal conducted oral screenings for approximately 50 to 60 participants, offering each attendee personalized feedback on their oral health and guidance on improving their oral hygiene practices. The program was well-received, providing valuable health education and promoting cancer awareness within the community
