The Department of Pharmacology, in collaboration with IQAC at AVMC&H, Puducherry, organized a keynote talk on August 31, 2024, as part of Pharmacovigilance Awareness Week. Prof. Dr. Bikas Medhi, Professor at PGIMER, Chandigarh, delivered an insightful presentation on “Current Status of Pharmacovigilance and Materiovigilance: India and Global Perspective” at Dr. Ganesan Hall. The session was attended by 80 students and 11 faculty members and included a welcome address by Dr. Meganathan, followed by the speaker’s introduction by Dr. Narayanasamy. Dr. T. Rajan felicitated the guest, and the event concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Asokan.
On September 10, 2024, a Pharmacovigilance Awareness Short Film and Poster Competition was held at Saravanan Hall. Participants included II-year MBBS and PG students from the Department of Pharmacology. The competition was judged by Dr. Ezhilrajan and Dr. Sheela Kuruvilla, who evaluated 7 short films and 19 posters. Dr. Tamizhazhagan gave a presentation on Pharmacovigilance, and the winners received awards and certificates from the dignitaries.
The event successfully raised awareness about pharmacovigilance and its significance for ensuring patient safety in India and globally. The programs were well-received and provided an important platform for academic discussion and student participation.
