The Asthma Training Module Workshop, in collaboration with the IAP National Respiratory Chapter and Pondicherry Academy of Pediatrics, took place on 22nd September 2024 at AVMCH, Puducherry. The event began with a traditional kuthuvilakku lighting and a welcome speech by Dr. M. Mathivanan, followed by the inauguration by Dr. Rakesh Sehgal, Dean of AVMC&H.
Key speakers included Dr. Somu Sivabalan, who discussed wheezing in children under 5 years, asthma management for children above 5 years, and spirometry. Dr. Shishir Modak addressed asthma in children over 12 years and demonstrated MDI with spacer use. Dr. AR Somashekar covered asthma flare-up management and prescription writing. Around 90 pediatricians from various colleges in Pondicherry participated, along with postgraduates who gained valuable insights into asthma management.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. V. Thiyagaraajan, Assistant Professor, and ended with the National Anthem at 4:30 PM.
