The Vector Control Research Center (VCRC), ICMR signs MoU with Aarupadai Veedu Medical College and Hospital 

We are pleased to announce that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Vector Control Research Center (VCRC), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Aarupadai Veedu Medical College and Hospital (AVMCH), Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation – Deemed to be University (VMRF-DU) on 24th March 2023.

The MoU aims to foster collaborative research in vector-borne diseases and public health. 

 The MoU was signed by Dr Ashwani Kumar, Director of ICMR-VCRC and Dr P. F. Kotur, Dean of AVMCH, in the presence of Dr Hoti S.L, Emeritus Scientist of ICMR-VCRC, Dr B. Vishnu Bhat, Director- Medical Research of AVMCH, Dr Goutam Sarkar, Joint Director – Medical Research of AVMCH and Dr S. Ravikumar, Assistant Director – Research of AVMCH. 

The ceremony was held at the Ganesan Hall of AVMCH in Puducherry and attended by members from both institutions. The ceremony began with the Thamizhthai Vazhthu, followed by the Lamp lighting. The welcome address was delivered by Dr B. Vishnu Bhat, who highlighted the importance of the MoU and the potential benefits for both institutions. The chief guest Dr Ashwani Kumar spoke about the vision and mission of ICMR-VCRC and expressed his hope for a fruitful and long-lasting partnership with AVMCH. The guest of honour, Dr Hoti S.L, shared his insights and experience on vector-borne disease research and emphasized the need for interdisciplinary collaboration. The presidential address was given by Dr P. F. Kotur, who thanked ICMR-VCRC for choosing AVMCH as a partner and assured full support for the joint research activities. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Goutam Sarkar, who expressed his gratitude to all the dignitaries and participants for making the event a success. The ceremony concluded with the national anthem. 

This MoU marks a new milestone in the history of AVMCH, and we look forward to working with ICMR-VCRC on various research projects that will contribute to advancing science and society.
