A guest lecture on “Gross Anatomy of the Portal Vein and Its Clinical Significance” was organized by the Department of Anatomy on June 21, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 12:05 PM. The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. S. Ilankathir, Professor and Head of the Department of Anatomy at AVMC&H, Puducherry. Dr. N. Muthukumaravel, Professor of the Department of Anatomy at AVMCH, introduced the speaker.
Dr. S. Aruna, Professor and Head of the Department of Anatomy at IGMCRI, Puducherry, delivered an insightful lecture on the portal vein and its clinical significance. The lecture provided a comprehensive overview of the portal vein and presented clinical case studies illustrating the impact of portal vein disorders such as portal vein thrombosis and cirrhosis. Dr. K. Sridhar, Assistant Professor of the Department of Anatomy, interacted with participants and received feedback on the clarity and relevance of the lecture content.
